My Favourite Video Game

My Favourite Video Game

Hi, for my first blog I will be talking about my favourite video game. Crash Bandicoot has been one of my all time favourites since I was around 8 years old. I started playing it on the Playstation 1 when I was younger and have since played the games on the playstation 2, 3 and 4.

Crash Bandicoot is a series of games that was created by Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin in 1994. The games are mostly set in a fictional place called Wumpa Islands. The main character is named Crash who is often fighting with the main antagonist, Doctor Neo Cortex. In cerrtain games, Crash must fight other characters and sometimes has worked alongside Doctor Neo Cortex. The games are mainly adventure games, while some are team car racing.

I really enjoy the Crash Bandicoot series as there are a wide variety of games within it. The first games that came out are my favourite but I also like the multiplayer racing games as i can play them with my friends.

Developers released a remake of the first three Crash Bandicoot games in 2017 and named it the "N. Sane Trilogy". I have played them on the PlayStation 4. I loved playing them as they were the same as the original but with much better graphics.

  1. Hi Lauren,

I loved reading about how your favorite game was Crash Bandicoot. I use to play it when I was younger too but wasn't very good at all! I don't know why I think I just panicked to much while playing.

Can't wait to read more of your blogs! :)

Introduction

Introduction to Me My name is Lauren Murphy and I am 20 years old. I live in Castleknock and have 4 people in my family including myself.  My favourite class last semester was Design Process and Practice. I have a big interest in graphic design and I really enjoyed learning about the principles and rules of design. My goals for this module are to improve my blog writing skills and successfully create a video game. Image 1: Boracay Beach During Summer I went on holiday to The Philippines. I travelled for 22 hours to Manila, where I stayed for 4 days. I then flew to Boracay and Cebu. Each place was amazing and different in their own way. I met a lot of people who were travelling alone around Asia. After listening to some people's experiences, I have decided I will definitely go back to Asia next summer. I also went to Hungary this Summer. Some of my friends were interrailing around Europe so I met them in Budapest for 4 days. I went to the famous Baths and also wen...

Game Idea Research

Game Idea Research Hi again! After brainstorming a few ideas for my game, I have decided I'm going to stick to an adventure style. As I've said before in previous blog posts, I gained a lot of inspiration from the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro series. The user of the game will be able to walk around a virtual world. They can collect gems which will add to their score. There will also be different type of keys hidden around the world. Each key will unlock another part of the world to explore. Once the player unlocks an area, they will have to fight small creatures that are walking around. As the players score increases, their strength will increase. This allows the player to fight tougher opponents as the game goes on. The player's health will take a toll if hit by a creature they are fighting. The aim of the game is to beat the creatures and collect all the keys to unlock the entire world.  Image 1:   Minecraft Virtual World I hope to learn enough...

Games Decisions

Games Decisions Hi again, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be writing about readings to do with decision-making and flow theory.  Unfortunately I was unable to get the readings "Theory of Fun for Game Design" and " Challenges for Game Designers" off Amazon for this week. Instead I read an article from  Lost Garden  by Daniel Crook.  In this article, Crook talked about making a Massively Multiplayer Online game (MMO). An MMO is is an online game with large numbers of players, typically from hundreds to thousands, on the same server.  I had never heard of this term before. Creating a game with more players costs more money and takes more time. A lot of people think the more players able to play, the better the game. Crook gives examples of games such as; Multi-User Dungeons and Fortnite, to counter this statement. I personally I enjoy video games that involve loads of players but after reading this article, I have no...
